For this project, I really want to continue with my themes from my past work and work in a feminist perspective. I was inspired by old and current advertising videos and it made me think about the history of how women are portrayed in ads and if ads today are really any better. I recently have seen a few ads that I think are quite sexist, but I have also seen a lot of progress with how women are shown in media as well, which I thought would be interesting to dissect. I also remembered a video I saw in one of my women and gender studies classes where a woman discussed advertising and how women are portrayed, which I thought would fit well for the audio for the project. I had a lot of trouble with the different software for this project, but I finally can use MadMapper and get started putting it all together. I plan to go back and forth between older ads and newer ones to show the differences and similarities of how women are shown in media. I plan to get used to using MadMapper and start deciding exactly how I want my videos to play.
