I used a billboard to projection map onto digitally. I began the performance by using old some old footage of an advertisement that exhibited some sexist behaviors. On top of that I began to add newer advertisements that portrayed women in a very sexual manner. I continued to overlap these sexually charged and objectifying ads of women. Near the end, I overlayed some footage of a more recent ad that is actually much more inclusive and empowering for women. I mixed this one with the older ads that objectify women to create an interesting dichotomy of ideas and visuals. I portrayed how the ad industry has been objectifying women and portraying sexism for a long time, and how we are just now finally moving away from those ideas and images. Unfortunately, we still have a long way to go with how women are portrayed in advertising, and I wanted to show how only recently some ads have gotten a bit better. I overlayed some cut up audio of a speech by Jean Kilbourne who discusses women in advertising to go with the images.
